DivePhotoGuide: Photographer of the Week
When I first started with underwater photography (and diving) two and a half years ago, DivePhotoGuide - Underwater Photography & Video(www.divephotoguide.com) was my main resource for tips, tutorials, and product reviews. The site was so integral to my learning that I remember taking photos of settings in articles and transferring them to my Canon G16 so I could easily refer to them underwater (ingenious). Fast forward to today and I find myself featured as their Photographer of the Week. I can't express how thrilled, humbled, and honored I am. Full circle? Probably. But the learning never stops (I still refer to the site)
This means a lot to me, and if DPG was my manual of sorts, all the mentorship I got became the actual training. Thanks to maestro Scott Gutsy Tuason for making me his unofficial sorcerer's apprentice. Cheers to fellow photographers Ram Yoro, Penn Dls, Steve De Neef, and Bo Mancao for those seemingly token tips that went a long way. To David Choy, Eileen Rodriguez Choy, and Yvette Lee for hosting me on their liveaboards. To Christopher Ng who gave me the opportunity to dive and take me through marine conservation 101. And of course to Pam Soriano, my dive buddy and safety diver who would go all the way down to 50+ meters with me as I take photos of dozens of gray reef sharks in Peleilu, Palau.
Thanks to Lia Barrett for the lovely write-up and Ian Bongso-Seldrup for the feature. Cheers guys.
