Malapascua Island, Philippines
Monad Shoal in Malapascua Island is the only spot in the world where Thresher sharks can be encountered on a daily basis. Divers from all over flock to this tiny island north of Cebu and dive early in the morning just to get a glimpse of these graceful animals with mesmerizing tails.
Also located in the vicinity of Malapascua are Gato Island, whose underwater caves house sleeping whitetip reef sharks; and Kimud Shoal, where schools of Hammerheads appear in March. As if that was not enough, the reefs surrounding the main island itself is a haven for colorful and fascinating critters.
