Bird Banding in Seewinkel, Austria
Much like installing license plates on a car, bird banding involves putting aluminum bands on birds' legs to identify and track them. It is one of the oldest techniques for this purpose, originating in the late 1800s.
At St. Martin’s Therme and Lodge at the edge of Lake Neusiedl in the Seewinkel National Park, their resident expert ornithologists regularly perform this procedure, and allow visitors to peek over their shoulders during accompanied walks with their rangers.
